What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese word that means Universal Life-Force Energy. It's a non invasive, natural method that accesses this energy to heal the spirit, mind, emotions, and body. Although it doesn't replace modern medicine in any way, it is useful for treating any illness and injury, including cancer, heart disease, insomnia, headaches, stress, depression among others. As a complementary therapy, Reiki can be used in conjunction with other therapy treatments that can speed up recovery time. Studies have shown Reiki stimulates the relaxation response.
How does Reiki Work?
Reiki practitioners believe an imbalance occurs whenever the flow of this life-force becomes disrupted. The practitioner lays their hands onto their patient, acting as a channel for this energy, where the purpose of channeling the energy is to attune and align, improving health and enhancing quality of life. This modality can be applied to adults, children, animals, and even plants! Reiki always works for good, therefore there are no risks involved nor cause harm.
What to expect on a Reiki Session?
As you lay down on a massage table, or sitting on a chair, fully clothed, and in a peaceful room free of distractions, the therapist places their hands on or over the patient's body in a series of positions. The patient becomes relaxed, which helps and allow the healing to occur more easily. The Reiki practitioner is only a channel for this life-force energy flow. He or she does not diagnose or cure a disease, but helps in facilitating the healing process.
